but, like, country and rap are both widely dismissed as genres for exactly those reasons? Frequently by the same people who love to hate Taylor?

way better example is the tons of rock or pop-punk dudes who write about breakups and romance and everyone’s like OMG YOU ARE SUCH A GREAT MUSICIAN YOU ~SPEAK TO THE HUMAN EXPERIENCE~
